Pixies Announce 2017 Australian Tour

UPDATE 03/10/16: Pixies have added a second and final Melbourne show to the tour. Tickets go on sale at 12pm on Friday, 7th October.

ORIGINAL STORY: Veteran rockers Pixies have announced they’re heading to Australia in March 2017, touring in support of their new album Head Carrier.

Last month the group announced that they were going to drop their first album in two years on 30th September, and were also embarking on a world tour. Aussie Pixies fans haven’t had to wait too long for new Aussie dates, as just over a month after the world tour announcement we’ve got exactly what we wanted.

The band’s 2017 east coast tour will be the first time Pixies have played shows in the country since their 2014 gigs as part of Sydney’s VIVID Live. This time around the group will play shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

The tour will see frontman Black Francis, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago welcome bassist Paz Lenchatin to the Pixies’ permanent lineup.

The band have played a handful of shows already this year, but these will be the first ones that give them a chance to showcase the new material after its release.

Check out Pixies’ Australian dates below, alongside a pro-shot video of Head Carrier‘s first single Um Chagga Lagga being performed live.
