Police “Generally Pleased” With Secret Garden Punters Despite Two Overdoses And 28 Drug Detections On First Day

Police have warned Secret Garden festivalgoers about bringing illicit substances to the second day of the festival after two reported overdoses and 28 drug detections on the first day.

“Yesterday (Friday 24 February 2017), there were a total of 28 drug detections for MDMA, cocaine, LSD and cannabis. There were also two reports of drug overdoses,” Operation Commander, Superintendent Ward Hanson said in a statement.

“Throughout the event, police will continue to target the use of illicit drugs and supply, dangerous and anti-social behaviour and alcohol-related crime.”

Despite this, police said they were “generally pleased” with the behaviour of punters on the first day.

The boutique NSW festival kicked off yesterday with performances by Urthboy, Total Giovanni and Set Mo.

Up to 5,000 people are expected at the festival for the second day. The festival is completely sold out.

The Jezabels, Japanese Wallpaper and Donny Benet will all take to the main stage tonight. It’s going to be a pretty muddy affair with rain expected all day and night.
