Reports Of An Active Shooter At Las Vegas Country Music Festival

Las Vegas police are responding to reports of an active shooter at a country music festival near Mandalay Bay Casino.

Police have asked everyone to avoid the area as witnesses have described hearing gun shots at music festival Route 90 Harvest.

Nathan O’Neal, a reporter for NBC in Las Vegas, has spoken to witnesses at the scene who say there were “bullets ricocheting” at the festival while victims are being taken from the area in ambulances.

Another NBC reporter Gerard Ramalho has reported that one suspect has been allegedly found dead in a room at Mandalay Bay Casino.

The shots were initially heard during a performance by country singer Jason Aldean.

Artists who were playing at the festival have taken to social media with country singer Luke Combs tweeting that there’s an “active shooter” at the festival. Fellow musician Jake Owens also tweeted “gun shots!!!”

Update 02/10/17 6.00pm:

Police have confirmed that “one suspect is down”. Fairfax are also reporting, a spokesperson has confirmed that at least two people are dead while a further 24 have been injured.

Update 02/10/17 6.45pm:

Police do not believe there are any more shooters.

Update 02/10/17 7.40pm:

Las Vegas police Sheriff Joe Lombardo has confirmed that at least 20 people have died with over 100 more injured. While police are “pretty confident” that there’s no longer a threat of violence they have urged people in the city to remain inside until they have been given the all-clear by police.
