Sia Might Be Rethinking Her No-Touring Policy

Having legions of international fans and receiving big money offers is making it more and more difficult for Sia to stick to her I-don’t-play-live policy. The Adelaide singer-songwriter now seems slightly more open to the concept of touring her music than we previously thought, and funnily enough the news comes just in time for her next album.

In a recent interview with NME — the same chat in which she revealed details on her now-completed new album This Is Acting — Sia has said that, as the offers of money have increased, she’s had second thoughts about her no-touring protocol.

“I’m seeing some crazy numbers,” Sia says of the money she’s reportedly been offered. “When they keep coming I’m like, ‘Is it worth it now?’ because it could mean that I don’t ever have to do anything again.”

Sia hasn’t played a full live show since 2011, and hasn’t really performed songs from her 2014 album 1000 Forms Of Fear outside of TV studios. In typical Sia fashion, though, the possibility of returning to the stage was given a little pinch of salt thanks to an interesting request.

“I don’t care about [playing live] so I’ll throw the most ludicrous idea out and say say ‘I’ll do a live show if you can get Olivia Newton John to perform with me’, because that’s my childhood dream,” she says. “I’m working out ways to make it fun. I guess there’s a number, if I’m worth that number then I’ll go out on tour.”

Sia’s interview also saw her discuss the process behind her new album, which she’s described as “much more pop”.
