Dubstep superstar Skrillex has announced that he will no longer make an appearance at Stereosonic 2013, which is set to kick off later this week. The DJ-producer was slated to perform as part of Dog Blood, his collaboration with German producer Boys Noize.
Making the announcement via his official Facebook page, Skrillex, real name Sonny John Moore, cited “circumstances that are beyond my control” in announcing that he “won’t be able to make the Dog Blood Stereosonic dates this year,” much to the dismay of his Australian fans.
Skrillex was adamant that his cancellation is not a reflection on the Stereosonic team or the One Love crew, who organise the yearly EDM event, saying, “I love the Stereosonic team and the One Love crew who puts on these events and this has nothing to do with them on their side.”
“I will be spending the rest of this year finishing my new music,” he concluded, before assuring fans that he will still be making the trip Down Under for his spots at the new Beachlife festival and Shore Thing, which he himself is curating. Readers can check out the full statement below.
UPDATE: Stereosonic organisers have taken to their official Facebook page to assure fans that “Boys Noize will 1000% be performing in all cities,” and to announce Dog Blood’s replacement, saying, “we welcome GTA as a late addition to all shows except Adelaide.”
These Floridian up-and-comers, who superstar Diplo described as “the future,” made their Australian live debut earlier this year when they supported Rihanna on her stadium tour, while playing a short run of their own acclaimed sideshows. This will be their first Australian festival tour.
Skrillex Stereosonic Cancellation Message
Due to unfortunate circumstances that are beyond my control, I won’t be able to make the Dog Blood Stereosonic dates this year. For the record, I love the Stereosonic team and the One Love crew who puts on these events and this has nothing to do with them on their side. I will be spending the rest of this year finishing my new music but will be coming back to do some SKRILLEX shows over New Year’s Eve in a couple weeks and will be spending more time in OZ in ’14. Thanks and really looking forward to seeing you guys soon.
