Sting Confirmed To Headline 2016 AFL Grand Final Pre-Show

Sting has been confirmed as the final act to be added to the lineup for the AFL Grand Final’s pre-show.

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan hinted strongly at the inclusion of the English singer-songwriter in an interview this week, and now it’s been confirmed that Sting will round out an otherwise all-Aussie lineup including Vance Joy and The Living End.

McLachlan said in a statement that the addition of Sting will ensure that the entertainment lineup appeals to all ages. “Sting is much loved the world over, and we couldn’t be more thrilled that he will join us on the biggest day of our year.

“Sting, Vance Joy and The Living End will no doubt entertain fans of all ages for those who see them live at the MCG or during the Seven Network’s broadcast,” he said.

Sting’s performance will come in the lead up to the release of his new album this November titled 57th & 9th. “It’s a great honour to be invited to perform at the biggest day in Australian sport,” Sting said of his inclusion on the lineup.

“I always have such an enjoyable time in Australia and I’m very much looking forward to returning to Melbourne next month.”

The final will take place on Saturday, 1st October.
