Tired Lion Part Ways With Founding Guitarist Matt Tanner

Perth rockers Tired Lion have revealed they are parting ways with founding guitarist Matt Tanner.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Tanner says he has decided to leave the band following their latest national tour behind debut album Dumb Days.

“I started this band with my friends just after high school and have loved being able to write, create and perform for you all over the years,” Tanner says.

“This band has been a huge part of who I am so making this decision was very hard yet necessary for my own personal reasons. The show will definitely go on and I know the guys are most likely already working on a bunch of new tunes plus will be continuing to tour a whole heap.

“For anyone that’s ever come up to me telling me how much our music has meant to them or just nerding out about guitar stuff please know how awesome that has always made me feel.

“Thanks to my loved ones, friends, family and anyone else who has supported me doing this over the years, it’s been a challenging yet incredible experience and I’ll miss being in a band with my mates. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my life and everything it brings.”

Tired Lion are currently scheduled to perform at The Smith Street Band’s Pool House Party later this month, as well as Big Pineapple Music Festival in May and FKA Festival in October. They are yet to announced a replacement guitarist.
