Watch A Fake Steve Aoki Troll Punters At Stereosonic

Jarrad Seng has out-trolled the lot of us. The Perth-based photographer, who only slightly resembles Stereosonic 2014 headliner Steve Aoki, has done the right thing and used Aoki’s image to his own hilarious advantage, dressing up as the DJ and wandering around the Perth leg of Stereosonic for three hours.

In the video (below), Seng can be seen getting called into hundreds of over-excited selfies while dressed in Aoki-esque shades, a fake beard and some colourful jackets. Some choice lines from the amazed Stereosonic punters include, “Oh my god, it’s Steve!” and “Bro, can we get a photo?”

The clincher, though, comes when the real Aoki takes to the stage and yells, “My name is Steve fuckin’ Aoki!”, much to Seng’s amusement. As Seng walks away from the stage, a confused fan says to him, “Steve Aoki! But, you’re way up there!”

Taking to his Facebook page after filming and uploading his Aoki escapades, Seng wrote, “Yeah so I get mistaken for Steve Aoki a LOT. It’s been a weekly thing for the past five years… at music festivals, bars, on Instagram… it even happened on the streets of Barcelona once.”

Seng mentioned that he took some inspiration from a recent video created by Shoshana Roberts, who filmed members of the public catcalling her as she walked around New York City. Seng realised that he could do a similar thing, but dressed as Aoki to give his work a more comedic feel.

“This is the dumbest thing I’ve done in a long time,” Seng said, adding, “P.S. I do feel a little bit bad about the hundreds of selfies I was asked to be in (haha… sorry. I owe you guys a beer or two).” Watch Jarrad Seng, aka Fake Aoki, do his thing, below.

UPDATE 12/12/14: The real Steve Aoki is now in on the trolling game. Watch him and his fake counterpart troll punters at Melbourne Stereosonic together.
