Watch: Florence and the Machine – What the Water Gave Me

Florence and the Machine has released a video for a new song off their upcoming second album to be released in November.

Last week they said the new album was pretty much finished, but they were just waiting for the record label to decide what songs would make the cut. Well it looks like the first song to get that honour will be What the Water Gave Me.

In an interview back in May, Florence Welch described the new album would as taking on a ghostly theme ”A lot of the songs on the new album are about imaginary things,” she said. “Things that you can’t touch: ghosts and rumours, my dead grandmother, things visiting you in a dream.”

Welch added that she feels compelled to dark subject matter in her music, adding, “It still feels like I’m very much drawn to dark metaphors in the new songs. It always feels like as if with each song you write, you’re trying to understand something about yourself: Why am I this way? What’s wrong with me?”

Maybe it’s because she’s been possessed by witchcraft?
