James Blake Announces New Album ‘Radio Silence’

English producer James Blake has announced his forthcoming third studio album will be titled Radio Silence. Blake made the announcement on the final show of his BBC Radio 1 residency.

Reports Consequence Of Sound, the Radio 1 show was originally broadcast in December last year, but the audio only just appeared on SoundCloud. Radio Silence will follow-up Blake’s 2013 Mercury Prize-winning album, Overgrown.

Last November Blake said the new record should be ready for release in “about five months” and is expected to feature collaborations with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and possibly Kanye West. “In terms of the actual collaboration for this record, it looks like we should be able to get something done,” Blake said of Kanye’s involvement.

“I know that there’s a specific song I would like him to be on, and if he can do that by the time my record comes out, that would be fantastic.” Also via his BBC Radio 1 residency, Blake previously premiered some new songs, such as Building It Still and 40455 which may make their way onto Radio Silence.

Recently Blake shared a new EP titled 200 Press, which features three new dark electronica tracks and one spoken-word musical poem called Words That We Both Know. It is not known if any of these tracks will feature on Radio Silence.

Listen to Blake’s final BBC Radio 1 show below, the announcement takes place around the 1hr 40min mark.
