The NSW Government Is Legitimately Cracking Down On Venues Hanging Mirror Balls Now

Have you ever seen the film Footloose? You haven’t? Well, no need now because it looks like we’re living that reality now that Gladys Berejiklian and NSW government has begun cracking down on venues for hanging mirror balls.

No, this is not satire.

As reported by News.com.au, Surry Hills, Japanese-themed bar Goros has been targeted by the NSW government for hanging up a mirror ball. According to them, the ball would constitute a change of licence into a nightclub, which means the venue would face new restrictions.

In an act of defiance, the bar has hung up the mirror ball anyway.

This regulation has come under intense criticism, which is just the latest bout of condemnation the NSW government has received for its treatment of Sydney night-time economy.

In fact, over 100 venues across the city are stopping service temporarily tomorrow night (Friday, 22nd March) so they can take a few minutes to educate punters on different political parties’ policies when it comes to night-time economy. This is done as part of a protest prior to the NSW election on Saturday, 23rd March.
