Guns N’ Roses Have Begun Working On New Music, Slash Confirms

In news guaranteed to whet your appetite for destruction, Slash has confirmed that Guns N’ Roses are working on new music, marking the first new material to feature seminal trio Slash, Duff and Axl Rose in 26 years.

Though there’s been plenty of speculation about new tunes on the way since the OG lineup partially reunited, Slash has been pretty cagey on announcing anything official. Until now that is.

Speaking with Detroit radio station WRIF’s ‘Meltdown’ podcast, the Les Paul warrior explained why he’s been playing coy: “The thing is, we hadn’t really done anything yet, and I don’t like to say anything,” Slash explained.

“You know how people use it to promote shit and lie through their teeth? So I just wanted to be honest about it, and so there was really no telling what we were gonna do at that point.”

He continued: “But at this point, I do know that we are gonna do this run [of international shows], and we’ve already started working on stuff. So, there you go.”

Slash also vented some frustrations about rumours circulating that he’d already been at Axl’s house working on the album, after a picture circulated of his guitar rig on social media.

“There was a rumour that I was over there, and it was before I had even been there. So, I was, like, ‘Jesus Christ.’ And that’s just a pain in the ass and annoying,” he said.

“But I am excited about what we’ve got going on and everything, so it’s gonna be cool.”

So there you go, straight out of the top hat enthusiast’s mouth.

A hypothetical new record would mark the band’s first album since 2008’s infamous Chinese Democracy, LP, which didn’t involve OGs Slash or Duff and took frontman Axl Rose a mere 15 years to record.

The last GNR album to feature Slash and Duff was 1993’s punk covers LP The Spaghetti Incident.

Earlier this year, Gunners re-issued their legendary 1987 debut Appetite For Destruction with an insane 73 tracks, but kicked up some controversy by axing the offensive lyric-stuffed tune ‘One In A Million’.

Meanwhile ICYMI: after Gunners’ last Australian tour, Slash promised that they’d be back.

So needless to say it’s a good time to be a Guns N’ Roses fan. Yowza!
