PREMIERE: Nadisko Capture The Summer On ‘Take Me Away’

We’re fairly deep into winter territory at the moment. It’s the time of year where, on a chilly night, you’re prone to catch yourself dreaming of the forthcoming summer months, the blissful warmth and beach promised if you can just make it through the cold. If you’re looking for an antidote to the freeze, electronic duo Nadisko might have something to cure your troubles.

The project, a collaboration between Alex Hopkins and Blake Wood, have returned from a four year hiatus with the shimmery ‘Take Me Away’. Reminiscent of the likes of Rüfüs Du Sol or Crooked Colours, the track showcases warm, ambient synths and soulful vocals taking centre stage against a backdrop of hypnotic percussion and guitar lines. It’s a great bit of escapism for those dreaming of summer.

“‘Take Me Away’ is an intimate, summery, poolside tune,” says Hopkins about the track.

“It is a new direction of what we are vibing musically, and in that, something we have only recently tapped into. It was inspired by equality and relationships. With the world being so busy and with so much division, we often struggle and forget to spend time with those closest to us. It was inspired by a very tough time for us in our lives and was used as a form of escapism. It comes back to the idea of a ‘perfect’ dream or idealism of what relationships should be like. It brought us back to the things that are important to us in life.”

Nadisko formed back in 2008, quickly distinguishing themselves in Sydney’s flouro-soaked DJ scene. They would go on to play with the likes of Steve Aoki, Tiga and Uffie, remixed the first Peking Duk EP, and performed heavily both locally and in Europe and Mexico.
