PREMIERE: Watch The New Video For Howlite’s Haunting, Ethereal ‘Reducer’

On their latest single ‘Reducer’, Melbourne trio Howlite trade their traditionally folk-inclined roots for ethereal, brooding indie-pop, reminiscent of acts like London Grammar or BANKS.

The first taste of forthcoming EP Not Here, it’s a glossy, atmospheric track driven by a throbbing bassline and electronic loops, with singer Alison Thom’s emotive vocals taking centre stage.

“‘Reducer’ has a noticeable pop edge to it, which was a decisive choice,” say the band. “We wanted to strip away the layers, and really focus on the things that we felt defined our soundscape.

The new single marks what’s set to be a busy second half of the year for Howlite, who say they’ve been developing their live show and crafting an engaging stage presence. The band will launch ‘Reducer’ with a hometown launch date at Cactus Room in Melbourne on Friday, 30th August.

“Our live show is something we’ve been building on over the last few months. Playing alongside some great bands such as San Mei and Deep Sea Arcade really inspires you to develop not only a great sounding live set but something that is immersive and engaging for the audience. And that’s our focus for this single launch.”
