Dave Grohl Confirms A New Foo Fighters Album Is Coming

Foo Fighters may have only just unleashed surprise new rarities EP 01070725 , but they’re already signalling plans to record a brand new album!

During their recent headlining set at Brazil’s Rock In Rio festival, front-Foo Dave Grohl teased that the band were about to begin work on the follow-up to 2017’s Concrete and Gold.

“We go home next week and we start making a new Foo Fighters record,” Grohl told the crowd.

It’s as the band also gears up to celebrate their eponymous debut album’s 25th anniversary, which is happening next year.

They may have been kicking round for a quarter century, but the Fooies are showing no signs of slowing down!

Meanwhile, fans at Rock In Rio also bore witness to some very wholesome scenes between Foo Fighters and fellow 90’s act, Weezer.

On Saturday night, Weezer were playing the main stage right before Foo Fighters went on, and near the end of their set, frontman Rivers Cuomo told the crowd: “We’re gonna cover a song from Dave Grohl’s old band to tide you over until the main course in a few minutes”, before launching into a cover of Nirvana’s ‘Lithium’.

Later, when Foos were onstage, Grohl admitted that Weezer’s performance made him tear up just a bit, before launching into a rendition of the Foos classic ‘Big Me’.

“Tonight I’m gonna dedicate this one to Weezer,” he said, strumming the opening chords of the 2006 favourite.

“I was backstage and I heard Weezer play the ‘Lithium’ song. I gotta be honest, I cried a little bit. I did! I miss playing that song. I miss it, so I’m happy to hear Weezer play it again. So this one goes out to the sweet Weezer.”
