Nickelback Are The Latest Casualties In Donald Trump’s Impeachment Drama

ICYMI, the US House Of Representatives this week announced that it would be moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump. The whole thing is a bit of a mess, with the President dragging the former Vice President and Democratic candidate hopeful Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden into it all.

It’s been a no-good-very-bad week for President Trump, after he was seemingly caught trying to urge the president of Ukraine to investigate Hunter’s place on the board of a Ukrainian energy company. Rather than admit that what he did was wrong, he’s instead waged a very public crusade against the Bidens.

And in amongst all of this, Nickelback have now been thrown into the mess.

In a (expectedly) bizarre tweet from Trump on Wednesday, he posted a video of Biden being asked about whether or not he has ever communicated with his son Hunter about his “overseas business dealings” – referring to Trump’s unproven speculations surrounding Biden and his son’s work in Ukraine.

Biden denies the question, and then the clip launches into a snippet of the song and video of Nickelback’s ‘Photograph’. Look, we’ve all seen the ‘look at this graph’ meme, it’s been done before, but this version of the clip shows frontman Chad Kroeger holding up a picture of Hunter Biden golfing with a bunch of Ukrainian energy execs.

The caption reads “LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH!”, all caps and everything.

SPIN have reached out to Nickelback’s reps to find out what they think about their song and clip being used in this way, but they haven’t yet responded.
