Prepare yourselves mosh fiends because the first Download Festival 2020 lineup announcement just busted out of its cage and it is a BEAST.
After shocking the world with the news of their surprise reunion last week, emo legends My Chemical Romance will return down under next March to headline the rock and metal rager in an exclusive performance, alongside metal titans Deftones (yes, mother flippin’ DEFTONES who have a new album coming!!!!)
There’s also stacks of other internationals gracing the Download class of 2020 as well, including Arizona alt-rockers Jimmy Eat World, Maryland metallers Clutch!, industrial metal pioneers Ministry, Swedish melodic metal giants In Flames, Scottish party machine Alestorm, English extreme metallers Carcass, Italian metal superstars Lacuna Coil, Mongolian metal maniacs The HU (check them out, I dare you) and more!
While the epic Aussie contingent includes a stack of faves, including Canberra rock monsters Hands Like Houses, metalcore kings In Hearts Wake and Thornhill, extreme metallers Ne Obliviscaris, the punk stylings of Bodyjar and Clowns, the death metal of Disentomb, pop punk courtesy of Stand Atlantic, prog guitar maestro Plini and the hip-hop-infused hardcore of Dregg.
It’s actually weird AF to be writing this because my band RedHook is also on the lineup (PUMPED is a bloody understatement)!!!
And did I mention that’s just the first announcement?!
ICYMI Download will return to both Melbourne and Sydney in all of its multi-stage punk, rock, metalcore and heavy metal glory in 2020, hitting Melbourne Showgrounds on Friday, 20th March and Parramatta Park on Saturday, 21st March.
