Watch Tones And I Recreate The ‘Dance Monkey’ Video With Very Fun ARIAs Performance

No one had a better ARIAs last night than Tones and I, who took home four Awards on the evening – Best Female Artist, Best Pop Release, Best Independent Release and Breakthrough Artist.

Tones, who released debut EP ‘The Kids Are Coming’ earlier this year, gave arguably one of the best Awards moments of the night after she was announced for the Best Female Artist trophy, with a vulnerable, heart-on-sleeve acceptance speech about embracing one’s self for who they truly are.

“Sometimes I don’t that that I’m the most relatable female artist. I’m not into make-up or dresses, or typically girly things. But, to me, those things don’t really define what it is to be a female artist in this industry anymore,” she commented after receiving the award.

“It’s being brave and courageous, and true to yourself. No-one could have ever prepared me for the whole world judging me and comparing me to other artists. But what’s most important is that you have to be a good person and care about others and carry yourself well. And thank you to Australia, for letting me know I’m okay just the way that I am.”

That’s not all, though. The busker-turned-popstar took to the ARIAs stage to perform a very vibrant rendition of her hit ‘Dance Monkey’, turning it into a mini golf course reminiscent of the music video for the tune, replete with lush golf cart entrance and a cavalcade of bearded linksman backup dancers. Bringing to life one of the year’s catchiest tracks, it’s a lot of fun.
