Brian Eno Skewers The UK Conservative Party With New Song Ahead of Election

Seems like legendary musician and producer Brian Eno‘s taken a creative turn to match his political views. Just in time before the UK federal election tomorrow (Thursday, 12th December), the electronic pioneer has shared a new song entitled ‘Everything’s on the Up With the Tories’.

A satirical takedown of the UK Conservative Party (AKA tories) backed by a deceptively upbeat piano line, Eno attacks the party by singing about the widening wealth disparity in Britan, privatisation of healthcare, unemployment and homelessness and ongoing Brexit purgatory.

“Everything’s on the up with the tories / the gap between the richies and the poories,” sings Eno in song’s first line.

As The Guardian acknowledges, Eno has long been outspoken about political issues, publicly supporting Labour candidate Jeremy Corbyn as far back as 2015, celebrating “a British politician speaking without a carefully pored-over PR briefing sheet, speaking with passion and confidence and courage from a set of deeply rooted beliefs and a great deal of personal experience.”
