In one of the least-expected crossovers in dance music history, it appears that Flume is working on a remix of Eiffel 65’s classic single ‘Blue (Da Ba Dee).
The Italian group released the tune way back in October 0f 1998, a month shy of a young Harley Streten’s seventh birthday. The tune was immensely popular, and went to #1 in… (breaths deeply) Australia, The UK, The Netherlands, France, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Canada, Russia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Israel, Lebanon, Belgium, Norway, Austria, Greece, Germany and Hungary.
Obviously Flume is a fan of the tune, which was nominated for a Grammy in 2001 for Best Dance Recording category and went 3x Platinum in Australia, because now he’s put his own spin on the classic.
Posting a brief video clip of himself from his home studio, Flume captioned the post with “Roses r red my face is blue here is a song I made it for u,” and even tagged Eiffel 65 on Instagram.
The music itself starts off pretty similar to the original ‘Blue (Da Ba Dee)’ but as the camera moves towards our boy, he reveals his own blue face, and his own version of what I guess could be called “the drop” of the song becomes apparent.

Whether the song will be released in full is not yet known, but we are definitely expecting new music from Flume this year, after he told Zane Lowe in March that there was something coming.
“Yeah, we’ll put out a record this year,” Flume told Lowe in March. “I’m trying to do, like, a beat a day or two ideas a day. I kind of got the blinders on, head down. And yeah, so hopefully put a record out this year.”
We can only hope and pray that ‘Blue (Da Ba Dee’) the Flume remix is on that said record. And if you’ve forgotten what the original sounds like, check it out:
