Fat As Butter 2012 – First Acts: Eiffel 65 and N-Trance

2012 is fast becoming the year in which 1990’s European dance acts invade Australia – with Eiffel 65 and N-Trance now on their way to our shores for a double bill in September.

Following the lead of the Vengaboys and Aqua – both acts are teaming up for an Australian tour that includes a stop at Newcastle’s Fat As Butter Festival.

Update 26/06/2012: Fat As Butter 2012 Lineup has been announced!

Eiffel 65 are the Italian trio responsible for their inescapable 1999 signature hit Blue (Da Ba Dee) – which some people credit as the birth of autotune and pitch correction. The track spent nine weeks at number one in Australia and went three times platinum. They followed that up with their equally as catchy hit Move Your Body and their oh-so-appropriately titled album Europop before dissapearing into oblivion… until now.

Meanwhile, N-Trance hit the scene in 1990 with their reworked disco numbers, and after just two albums had enough hits to release a best-of compilation. The biggest one of these was Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? back in 1997. They toured Australia with Run DMC in 1998 (!!) and apparently regrouped a few years ago to offer their loyal fans a new album and return to the live circuit.

Warming up fans at the shows will be DJ Mr.95, who will be playing a special set of 90’s party starters. Unlike the Vengaboys and Aqua tours, it doesn’t look like there’s much room for extra shows – so those of you wanting to go better get in quick.
