Are The Smashing Pumpkins Teasing New Music With These New Countdown Clocks?

Smashing Pumpkins are building the suspense for a forthcoming announcement with five different countdown clocks on a new website. The band posted an animated Pumpkins logo to Twitter with a link to the new site a couple of days ago.

The website, which you can find here, is sporting clocks counting down to 10, 31, 52, 73 and 94 days from now.

Obviously, people reckon it’s probably pointing to new music. Which is supported by frontman, Billy Corgan revealing earlier this year that we’d be receiving a double album some time this year.

On new Smashing Pumpkins tunes, Corgan told the Tennessean, “In many ways, this is the first real album (since the reunion) where we’ve hunkered down and made a classic, ‘Let’s throw it all at the wall and see what happens’ type of Pumpkins record.”

At the time, Corgan also revealed the double album was at 21 songs.

Pumpkins guitarist, Jeff Schroeder told Yamaha’s Artist Check-in with… series, “We have actually 20 news songs coming out this year that we just finished kind of right before this [the coronavirus crisis] all started. He’s taking the time to get the ball rolling on even another new album.”

The double album would follow up the Smashing Pumpkins’ 2018 release, Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1/ LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun.
