H.E.R. Wins Oscar For Best Original Song

H.E.R. has won Best Original Song at the 2021 Oscar Awards. ‘Fight For You’ is her contribution to 2020 film, Judas and the Black Messiah.

The song, ‘Fight For You’ is H.E.R.’s collaboration with Dernst Emile II and Tiara Thomas. She performed it at the Oscars’ pre-show entertainment.

In her acceptance speech, H.E.R. said, “All those days of Sly and the Family Stone and Marvin Gaye, thank you, Dad, it really paid off.”

“Musicians and filmmakers,” she continued. “I believe we have the opportunity to tell the truth and write the history the way it was,” she added, “Knowledge is power, music is power and as long as I’m standing, I’m going to fight for us.”

H.E.R. also won the 2021 Grammy for Song Of The Year for ‘I Can’t Breathe.’

Earlier today, Daniel Kaluuya won his first Oscar taking the Best Supporting Actor award for his role as Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah.

Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross also took home the Oscar Award for Best Original Score for their work on Soul.
