Listen to DMX’s New Posthumous Single ‘Hood Blues’ With Griselda

A new song from DMX’s posthumous record Exodus has landed. It’s the first to be released since the rapper’s death in April.

‘Hood Blues’ is co-produced by Avenue Beatz and Swizz Beatz. It features Griselda rappers Westside Gunn, Benny The Butcher and Conway The Machine.

Pitchfork pointed out that the track samples ‘Shady Blues’ by Lee Mason & His Orchestra; a composition that Madlib based his song ‘Answers’ on.

The album is slated for release through Def Jam on Friday, 28th May. It will be the label’s first DMX record since 2003’s Grand Champ.

DMX died on the 9th of April at age 50, just over a week after the rapper suffered a “catastrophic cardiac arrest”. His funeral was held on April 25th at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Among those who spoke at the ‘Celebration Of Life’ event were Eve and Swizz Beatz and Nas, who referred to DMX as his “brother”. His daughter Sonovah performed a version of his 1998 song ‘Slippin’.
