Earlier this year, Bad Seeds and Grinderman bandmates Nick Cave and Warren Ellis released their collaborative album, Carnage, digitally. Now, to coincide with the album’s physical release, the pair will answer questions from fans in a live-streamed conversation next month.
It’s being broadcast via YouTube Premiere, and you’ll have to be up pretty early to catch it – for Aussie fans, the event is taking place from 4AM on Saturday, 19th June (though it will be available to replay online following the stream.) You can submit questions by using the #talkcarnage hashtag on social media, or commenting on Cave’s Instagram post here.
Carnage was recorded by Cave and Ellis throughout lockdown, and though the pair have worked together on numerous projects (including multiple soundtracks), it marks the first time they’ve released an entire album of songs as a duo. Cave describes the album as “a brutal but very beautiful record nested in a communal catastrophe.”
The recording process was one of “intense creativity”, according to Ellis. “The eight songs were there in one form or another within the first two and a half days.”
Last month, Cave and Ellis shared another collaborative release, a 7″ single titled Grief that contained two tracks, based on a letter sent to Cave’s fan mail site, The Red Hand Files.
