Here We Go Again: A Bunch Of Singing And Dancing Restrictions Have Been Brought In For Greater Sydney

Upon the news of 10 new locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 in Greater Sydney and surrounding areas, a whole bunch of restrictions have been brought into the area that will impact – among other things – singing and dancing in public.

For one week from 4pm today (June 23), dancing will not be allowed at indoor hospitality venues or nightclubs. In addition, singing by audiences at indoor shows – or by congregants at indoor places of worship – will not be allowed.

The one person per four square metre rule will be re-introduced for all indoor and outdoor settings, and outdoor seated events will be limited to 50% seated capacity.

This throws the forthcoming Winter At The Domain concert series in disarray, with Chillinit’s show as well as Heaps Gay’s 8th Birthday Carnival both set to go ahead in the next week.

Most importantly, if you live or work in the City of Sydney, Waverley, Randwick, Canada Bay, Inner West, Bayside, and Woollahra local government areas, you cannot travel outside metropolitan Sydney for non-essential travel.

The NSW government has outlined these restrictions are in place for: Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour.

Again, these are set to be in place for one week and we’ll keep you updated if that changes.
