Watch Guns N Roses Shred A New Version Of ‘Silkworms’ Live

During a performance at Boston’s Fenway Park on Tuesday night, Guns N Roses surprised fans with the performance of a reworked version of their unreleased track ‘Silkworms’, which the band have dubbed ‘Absurd’.

The band reportedly worked on the track in 2001, whilst they were writing their sixth record Chinese Democracy. The record faced all sorts of delays, and was not released until 2008.

It’s not the first time the band have performed the track, but it is however, the first time they’ve performed this particular version of it.

“Some of you might have heard this under another name, but this is really kind of absurd for us to try this,” Axl Rose said while introducing the track.

“Wasn’t that funny? And they don’t even know the joke yet. Okay, so, this is called ‘Absurd’.”

The performance is an all out assault to the senses (in a positive sense, of course). Axl Rose shouts the title of the track, whilst Slash, no holds barred, shreds the hook to pieces on his guitar.

Their show last night is one of their first few shows back after 16 months off performing. They officially returned to the stage over the weekend on Saturday, July 31st at Pennsylvania’s Hersheypark Stadium, as part of their massively delayed stadium tour.
