Mike Patton Cancels Faith No More, Mr. Bungle Tours For Mental Health Reasons

Faith No More were due to begin their first American tour in five years later this week, but the ailing mental health of singer Mike Patton has forced them to cancel.

“Sorry to report that due to mental health reasons, I cannot continue with the currently scheduled Faith No More and Mr. Bungle dates,” said Patton.

Faith No More have cancelled a total of 12 dates across the US, from 16th September-23rd October. Mr. Bungle have cancelled both of their upcoming shows, which were due to take place in Chicago later this week.

Patton explained that he simply isn’t up to the task. “I have issues that were exacerbated by the pandemic that are challenging me right now,” he said. “I don’t feel I can give what I should at this point and I am not going to give anything less than 100 percent. I am sorry to our fans and hope to make it up to you soon.”

He also said both bands are supportive of the decision. In a statement signed by Faith No More’s Billy Gould, Jon Hudson, Mike Bordin, and Roddy Bottum, the band spoke of their regret at having to cancel the tour. “These last few rehearsals left no doubt that we were back to top form, which makes this statement very difficult to write.”

However, the band gave Patton their full support. “We believe that forging ahead with these dates would have had a profoundly destructive effect on Mike, whose value to us as a brother means more to us than his job as singer. He can count on our 100% support to do what he needs to do to get things right. Just as we also ask for your support right now.”

Faith No More are expected to tour Australia in February 2022, with shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
