Australia’s own Inertia Records have established a new platform for emerging artists. Titled Inertia Access, it will give emerging musicians another possible route to breaking the Australian music scene and allowing them to release their music. In the press release located on Inertia’s website, Managing Director Colin Daniels states the following;
“The days of bands’ sitting around waiting for a record deal are over. They’re out there working proactively; playing shows, getting their music on radio and growing their fanbase online. Labels need to be equally proactive.”
“Inertia Access is about creating a one-stop shop for artists making the leap into the marketplace; whether they want to sell tracks digitally, pitch their music to sync agencies, or create CDs, shirts and vinyl to share with fans.”
“On one level, it’s a platform to begin generating income,” says Daniels, “but on another level, it’s a space for young artists to inhabit and develop in while they assess their overall direction. It’s a unique opportunity to work with experts in the field, without the headaches that may come with signing a premature deal.”
Inertia currently promotes artists like M83, The Vasco Era and Bon Iver. Being one of the most promising of Australia’s Indie labels, this new project is sure to generate a broader music scene for Australia.
The first unsigned artist to utilise Inertia Access will be Sydney’s Elizabeth Rose. Favoured by Triple J as one of the next big things, Rose is an electronic-pop producer.
