Simple Plan have announced a special headlining show in Sydney, just weeks away from their impending visit in support of The Offspring on their Supercharged arena tour. The Canadian pop-punk band will perform on Saturday, May 10th at Liberty Hall, which will see them perform their 2004 album Still Not Getting Any… in its entirety for the first time ever.
In a press statement, the band’s founding drummer Chuck Comeau described their multi-platinum sophomore album as “one of our favourite albums we’ve made”. “Last fall, it celebrated its twentieth anniversary,” he continued. “We haven’t had the chance to properly celebrate the milestone and because we are not big fans of just sitting around, we thought we would take advantage of the few days off we have in Australia and do something really special. We’re not sure when, or even if we’ll ever do this again, so you know this is gonna be a very special show.”
Simple Plan – ‘Shut Up!’
Still Not Getting Any… was originally released in October of 2004. The album spawned four singles: ‘Welcome To My Life’, ‘Shut Up!’, ‘Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me?)’ and ‘Crazy’. All four were particularly successful in Australia, each charting in the top 40 of the ARIA Singles Chart and ‘Welcome To My Life’ peaking at number six. The album also achieved triple-platinum status locally, peaking at number six on the ARIA Albums Chart as well as number three in the US and number two in their native Canada. The album achieved nine platinum certifications globally, with its singles gaining an additional three platinum certifications and six gold certifications.
There will be no pre-sale for the show; instead, general tickets will go on sale from Tuesday, April 29th at 12pm AEST via Moshtix. A dollar from every ticket sold is said to go to the band’s charity, the Simple Plan Foundation, which they describe as a charity “helping young people in need and showcasing the power of music as a tool to find purpose and direction in life”. All remaining tickets for the band’s shows with The Offspring, meanwhile, can be accessed via Destroy All Lines.
