Katy Perry Fan Formally Charged Following Sydney Stage Crash

Katy Perry had a close encounter with an Australian fan during the second Sydney show of her Lifetimes tour last night (June 9th) at Qudos Bank Arena. During a performance of the song ‘Hot N Cold’, a man rushed the stage and stood next to Perry. She quickly moved away from him, leaving him to smile at the audience and briefly floss before he was wrangled by a slew of security guards.

“There’s never going to be another show like this,” said Perry after she moved away from the fan. “So, just enjoy it!” After returning to the song, she quipped “What the fuck is going on?” before singing the chorus. The Sydney Morning Herald have since confirmed that the fan has been identified as Johnson Wen – who is described by the masthead as a “serial prankster”. The Herald notes that Wen also pulled off a stage invasion during The Weeknd‘s Australian tour in November 2024.

NSW Police detained Wen at Auburn Police Station, a 15-minute drive from the arena in Sydney Olympic Park. They have also confirmed to the Herald that Wen has been charged with two offences: Entering enclosed land, and obstructing a person in performance of work or duties. He is also reportedly banned from the Olympic Park vicinity for the next six months.

Perry will return to Qudos Bank Arena tonight (June 10th) before heading to Melbourne for two shows at the city’s Rod Laver Arena. Next week, she will head to Brisbane and Perth to wrap the tour. All remaining tickets can be purchased via the tour’s official promoter, TEG Dainty.
