MKTO have announced they will return to Australia to play two headlining shows as part of their 2025 reunion world tour. The duo, composed of singers Malcom Kelley and Tony Oller, will perform at 170 Russell in Melbourne on Thursday, October 30th, and then perform at Sydney’s Metro Theatre the following day on Friday, October 31st. Tickets for Melbourne can be purchased via Moshtix, whereas tickets for Sydney can be purchased via Ticketek.
“It’s been a minute since we’ve been back, said the duo in a press statement announcing the shows. “We’ve always had a lot of love for Australia. We are so excited to get back down under and perform again!” It has been over a decade since MKTO last performed in Australia, where they undertook a handful of headlining shows on the east coast in April 2014 and also performed at that year’s Logie Awards. It came in support of their self-titled (and, to date, only) studio album, which was released in January 2014 and topped the ARIA Albums Chart upon release.
The band found considerable success in Australia with their singles ‘Thank You’, which peaked at number two on the ARIA Singles Chart, and signature song ‘Classic’, which peaked at number nine. ‘Thank You’ was later certified quadruple platinum locally, while ‘Classic’ was certified triple platinum. The band also charted with ‘God Only Knows’, which also went platinum and peaked at number 11, and ‘American Dream’, which went gold and peaked at number 40.
MKTO – ‘Thank You’
Since MKTO were last in Australia, the pair has undergone a tumultuous decade. They originally split up in 2017, following the release of their Bad Girls EP in July 2015; this, however, only lasted roughly a year. The pair spent the next 18 months releasing a string of stand-alone singles before COVID halted their momentum and split them up for a second time in 2020. This split was seemingly permanent; however, late last year it was announced they would reunite for a second time.
A pre-sale for the band’s two shows will go live from 10am AEST on Wednesday, June 4th; it can be registered for by clicking here. General sale will then follow the next day on Thursday, June 5th – again going live at 10am AEST – via the links listed above.
