OK Australia, it’s time to start stretching your necks – Foo Fighters are coming back.
During the band’s one-off show at UTAS Stadium in Launceston on Saturday night, frontman Dave Grohl casually dropped what is easily the strongest confirmation yet of a full Australian tour in 2026 – and he did it in the most Dave Grohl way possible.
Foo Fighters – ‘Everlong’ @ UTAS Stadium, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia – 24/6/2026
Mid-set, addressing the Tassie crowd, Grohl promised the visit wouldn’t be a one-and-done.
“We’ll be back here sooner than you think,” he said. “And it’s before my next birthday.”
For context: Grohl’s birthday is January 14. Which means if Foo Fighters are returning before that, we’re not talking early 2027 – we’re talking a 2026 Australian tour.
No dates were announced, no cities named, no slick graphics – just a very deliberate onstage comment that immediately sent the rumour mill into overdrive.
Adding even more fuel to the fire, Grohl also confirmed that Foo Fighters have finished recording a brand new studio album, telling the Launceston crowd it was completed “just the other day”. That’s the first time the band has publicly stated the record is done – and historically, that’s the final box ticked before major touring plans are unveiled – so yep, you can pretty much consider this a soft-launch Aussie album tour announcement.
Watch this space.
