One of Australia’s most singular and unstoppable new voices is taking her world on the road.
Proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Kalkadoon and Yirendali artist Miss Kaninna has announced her BLACKPRINT Tour for 2026 – a seven-date national run celebrating the release of her debut mixtape BLACKPRINT, arriving Friday 21 August via Soul Has No Tempo / AWAL Recordings (pre-order here).
Miss Kaninna – ‘HANDOUT’ ft. Jamahl Yami
The announcement comes alongside a blistering new single dubbed ‘HANDOUT’ featuring Waanyi/Gangaliida rapper Jamahl Yami – a fiery old-school hip-hop-inspired cut that doubles down on the sonic lane introduced by recent single ‘MOB TIES’, while pushing even harder into themes of identity, resistance and rage.
Self-produced on Wurundjeri Country with executive production from Nikodimos (Hiatus Kaiyote, Genesis Owusu), the track had its live debut supporting De La Soul earlier this year – with the hip-hop icons reportedly dubbing Miss Kaninna “the queen” during their Brisbane show.
Speaking on the track, Miss Kaninna says: “‘HANDOUT’ looks at themes of privilege of white ‘Australia’, it’s about black power and reclaiming identity and rage, especially with the double standards of crime and prosecution in so-called Australia.”
She adds that the collaboration with Jamahl Yami had been years in the making, describing him as “like my older brother” and saying the song came together organically across two short sessions. The result is another bold statement from one of Australia’s most exciting and uncompromising voices ahead of BLACKPRINT’s release.
Now, the celebratory tour promises the kind of live experience Miss Kaninna has rapidly become known for: electrifying, genre-defiant performances that leave equal room for joy, rage, celebration and resistance.
If you’ve seen her before, you already know this isn’t the kind of show where people politely nod along with a drink in hand.
Across the last few years, Miss Kaninna has emerged as one of Australia’s most exciting and impossible-to-categorise artists – weaving hip-hop, R&B, rock and pop into something entirely her own while delivering performances that feel less like gigs and more like declarations.
The Naarm/Melbourne-via-lutruwita artist has steadily levelled up from local stages to international rooms and major festival slots, including appearances at The Great Escape, Laneway Festival, Meredith Music Festival, London’s Camden Assembly and the Sydney Opera House.
Along the way she’s picked up six ARIA nominations and some very serious co-signs – with Amyl & The Sniffers calling her “an inspiration”, KNEECAP reportedly dubbing her “the best support act we’ve ever had”, and De La Soul crowning her “the queen”.
Now she’s stepping into her next chapter.
Produced by Miss Kaninna alongside additional production from Lucy Blomkamp and executive producer Nikodimos, BLACKPRINT is described as a six-track mixtape born largely from freestyles that gradually transformed into full songs – some of them literally evolving in front of festival and stadium crowds.
Across the project, themes of freedom, frustration, anger and joy collide into something urgent, personal and unmistakably hers.
And fittingly, she’ll be bringing that energy straight to audiences around the country. You can peep all the details down below and pre-order BLACKPRINT here.
