If the name Melissa Auf der Maur sounds familiar it’s because she used to play bass in Hole and was also a one time bassist for Smashing Pumpkins. What you may not know is that Melissa is also an accomplished solo musician, photographer and artist.
About to release her second solo album Out Of Our Minds, the first taste of the record comes from the title track and first single. It’s an interesting track, with industrial-lite riffs with Billy Corgan influenced lyrics. Darker in texture then the bands she has played in, the bleak sound lends itself as a soundtrack you’d expect to hear on a Marvel comic based movie.
To coincide with the release of Out Of Our Minds a graphic novel and accompanying film will be released, creating a multi-sensory project. If this song is anything to go by, it will gather a cult following.
