John Oliver Announces Australian Stand-Up Tour

Actor, talk show host, and all-around comic genius John Oliver is touring Australia in 2015. The cultural and political sharpshooter has announced plans to bring his stand-up comedy routine down under for the first time ever.

The host of Peabody Award-winning current affairs talk show Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, whom others might recognise as the perpetually drunk Professor Ian Duncan on the cult comedy series Community, will be bringing his razor-sharp satire to our shores this August, with a pair of shows set down for Sydney and Melbourne.

The bespectacled British quipster has cornered the market on scholastic high-achievement and goofball LOL wizardry. As well as being named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People and winning a Writer’s Guild Award for his penmanship, Oliver has also provided the voice of Vanity Smurf in The Smurfs movie, and has appeared in The Simpsons as Marge and Homer’s next-door neighbour, Booth Wilkes-John.

Dummy translation: John Oliver is a funny nerd who does comedy for smart people. Tickets to his debut Australian shows go on sale from 9am AEST Monday, 11th May.
