Legendary Chatterbox Parkinson Is Coming To Australia For A Farewell Tour

The Mick Jagger of journalism — Sir Michael Parkinson — is heading down under for a farewell lap.

Fans will be able to see the legendary chatterbox in the flesh for the final time, capping off a career that’s seen him interview more than 2000 of the most important cultural figures of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Parky will be headed down under this October, bringing his one-of-a-kind show to theatres in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The evening will see Parky in conversation with his son Mike, looking back on highlights from the Parkinson archive and giving fans an informative look at his remarkable journey from a pit village in Yorkshire to the BBC.

“I’m delighted to be returning to, after Yorkshire, my second favourite place on earth,” Parkinson says of the tour. “My Father reckoned Australians were a long-lost tribe of sunburnt Yorkshiremen. I think I agree with him.”

The tour coincides with the 40th anniversary of Parky’s first Aussie TV series, ABC’s Parkinson In Australia, which was just one milestone in a long and storied love affair with our fair nation.

He also hosted the top-rating talk show Parkinson on Channel Ten back in the 80’s and even appeared on Neighbours one time.

The event will also see Parkinson fondly remembering his time on our shores and some of the fascinating Aussies he’s interviewed over the years, including the likes of Kerry Packer, Shane Warne, Ian Thorpe, Clive James, Dame Edna Everage, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Paul Hogan and the late Bob Hawke.
