Critically acclaimed author Margaret Atwood has announced a series of In Conversation events in Australia for February 2020.
The dates come after the release of Atwood’s latest book The Testaments back in September, the sequel to her much-lauded dystopian fiction novel The Handmaid’s Tale.
Having created a cultural phenomenon and symbol of women’s rights with The Handmaid’s Tale and its Emmy Award-winning television adaptation, Atwood will speak on why she returned to the world of Gilead 34 years after the original book was published in 1985. She’ll also discuss her other works over her impressive career, having authored more than 50 books of fiction, poetry and critical essays throughout her life.
The Testaments picks up 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, and won this year’s Booker Prize for Fiction.
“I am so happy to be returning to Australia, where I have spent much time in the past, and where readers have always been so warm and welcoming, commented Atwood of her upcoming visit.
