Urthboy And Michael Taylor Added To AIM Together Now 2012

Sydney hip hop star Urthboy and Island Records General Manager Michael Taylor have been added to the list of speakers at this Saturday’s AIM Together Now 2012 forum.

The event – to be held at the Australian Institute of Music’s Surrey Hills Campus in Sydney – will feature around 30 different industry professionals sharing their advice and experiences across four different panels. Each of them will cover a diverse range of music business specialties, including recording, publishing, A&R, artist management, tour management, venue management and performance.

Running from 10am-5.30pm, the forum will showcase panels and workshops with some of the most powerful people in the business, including opportunities for attendees to ask any questions they may have about the competitive industry.

Urthboy – aka Tim Levinson – is a hip hop MC and producer known for his solo work and as a founding member and main songwriter of hip hop group The Herd. Tim is also the co-founder and label-manager of the successful Australian hip hop record label, Elefant Traks, a business with a stable of ten artists, 60 releases (and counting) and numerous national and international tours.

Michael Taylor is currently the General Manager and head of A & R at Universal Music Australia, and Head of Island Records Australia at Universal Music Australia. Since founding Island Records Australia in 2008, Michael’s label has developed a roster of multi-platinum, award-winning artists, including Boy and Bear, Hilltop Hoods, Clare Bowditch and Gyroscope.

The keynote speaker at AIM Together Now 2012 is Adam Zammit – founder and CEO of Peer Group Media, and the recently-appointed Co-CEO of Big Day Out.  Other speakers include ARIA Award-winning songwriter Megan Washington, PPCA and Association of Artist Managers CEO Bill Cullen, News Limited music journalist Kathy McCabe, Rolling Stone Australia Editor In Chief Matt Coyte, and Music Feeds‘ very own Tim Poulton.

Following the forum, a special after-party – AFTERDARK – will kick off at the Oxford Art Factory. Showcasing an array of extremely talented bands from Sydney that have been selected by the Aim Together Now team, AFTERDARK will be a night of great live entertainment.
