Two US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents whose work helped inspire the hit Netflix series Narcos have announced a 2019 Australian speaking tour.
Steve Murphy and Javier Pena — who helped take down drug kingpin Pablo Escobar (whose story forms the basis of Narcos) — will return to Australia for an extensive tour across Perth, Hobart, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne in July, after hosting shows in Sydney and Melbourne last year.
The pair say they are coming back down under “to tell the true story about Pablo Escobar” and his 1993 capture.
“We’ll answer questions about Pablo, the Cali Cartel (from season three), Kiki Camarena (from season four), the making of Narcos, and even our personal lives,” says Murphy.
‘”Our last trip ‘down under’ was one of the best tours of our lives, and we can’t wait to return in July 2019.”
Organisers say the 2019 tour will also feature “exclusive stories and images not seen in the series”, as well as Q&A sessions with audience members.
