In case you’ve been unconscious for the past six hours and missed it, Rihanna’s much-hyped music video for ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ dropped this arvo and boy is it a doozy.
With its NSFW depiction of Rih-Rih violently struggling to get her money (from a bitch FYI), it hit a chord with me personally. Not because I’m a pirate murderer who owns a yacht, no, but because ultimately, aren’t WE ALL just trying to get our money from bitches. (Except you boss, you’re not a bitch, you’re great, I love the jacket you had on today, is it vintage?).
Anyway what I’m trying to say is it has some parallels with life as a 20-something in Australia under a government which doesn’t exactly help us get our money. Here’s seven times Queen Rih’s new vid thoroughly summed up the struggle of existing under current Australian politics.
When you set your car on fire cause you’re a poor person and Joe Hockey says you can’t afford to own one.
When you’re an illegal immigrant dog and Barnaby Joyce finds out about you.
When you have to go have a smoke in the pub’s carpark because the outdoor area is now food only.
When you hear about how asylum seekers are being treated in offshore detention camps. And the government’s response
When the only way to avoid the government’s data retention policy is to shoot your phone from a yacht.
When you don’t want to get kicked out of a Sydney pub because it’s post-lockout so you shut your drunk mate up when the cops come by.
When rental and house prices are so ridiculous so you have to live in a box.
When you protest against the government’s tax on tampons
