9 Things Everyone’s Talking About After Reading & Leeds Festival 2014

The 2014 iteration of England’s Reading & Leeds festival has come to a close, after a massive weekend headlined by acts such as Blink-182, Arctic Monkeys, Queens Of The Stone Age and Paramore. As we reflect on the weekend that was, Music Feeds has gathered together some of the most exciting, confusing and interesting things that happened over the last few music-filled days.

Arctic Monkeys’ blockbuster homecoming performance

Sheffield rockers Arctic Monkeys celebrated their homecoming with an extensive set which wrapped up the UK leg of their tour in support of most recent album AM. According to NME, the band walked onstage to a muzak version of Elvis Presley’s Are You Lonesome Tonight, before launching into AM cuts such as Do I Wanna Know, Arabella, Knee Socks and R U Mine? (below).

Festival organisers pull the plug on Royal Blood’s set

Royal Blood‘s Leeds Festival set was cut short by festival organisers, who pulled the plug during the song Out Of The Black, leading to boos from the huge crowd. “They’ve turned us off,” singer Mike Kerr told fans. According to NME, the band’s set included the songs Hole, Come On Over, Figure It Out, Better Strangers and Little Monster. Watch the duo’s Reading performance of Little Monster, below.

Pulled Apart By Horses pull out after bassist collapses

Leeds’ very own alt-rock band Pulled Apart By Horses cancelled their Leeds Festival set at the last minute, after their bassist Rob Lee collapsed backstage. The band have since posted a statement on their website, which reads, “Sadly we have had to pull our set at Leeds Festival today. Rob collapsed due to illness around 1 hour before we were due on stage which meant he was unable to perform. He is in very capable hands right now and being well looked after.”

Blink-182 close out Reading with toilet humour and pyrotechnics

Blink-182 closed out Reading Festival in typical Blink fashion. As NME reports, guitarist Tom DeLonge and bassist Mark Hoppus traded jokes throughout the set, with DeLonge telling the crowd before Wishing Well, “I’m doing fucking great. I’m playing this guitar so fucking awesome everyone is pregnant now.” The band played their classic song All The Small Things (below) before leaving the stage. They then returned for an encore, backed by a flaming “FUCK” sign at the back of the stage.
