It’s a big day for Perth indie-rockers DICE, who are celebrating the arrival of their eagerly awaited debut album, Midnight Zoo. The band’s first long-player makes landfall as they gear up to embark on a world tour, including a huge run of Australian headline dates and a turn at triple j‘s One Night Stand 2024.
Written, recorded and produced in their hometown of Perth at Tone City Records, DICE’s debut record is an ode to their home as a band and their roots. And to mark the milestone, the Perth shooting stars have taken a moment to reflect on their meteoric rise, and share their top 5 career highlights to date. Give them a suss down below.
DICE – ‘Masquerade’
1. Opening the Amphitheatre main stage at Splendour in the Grass 2023
“Winning the Triple J Unearthed SITG competition set us up for an amazing 2023. We got to travel to Byron Bay to not only attend Australia’s most iconic music festival but open the main stage! We had no expectations going into the set, and the hill quickly filled with a few thousand people, which was a super special moment we will look back on for years.”
2. Covering Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’ for triple j’s Like A Version
“Ticking off a lifetime bucket list item was very surreal and daunting yet one of the most exciting moments of our musical career so far! We had the best time putting our own spin on the track and it’s been heaps of fun to play live at the shows!”
3. Selling out our first theatre headline show at the Princess Theatre in Brisbane.
“Another bucket list item for us ticked off in June 2024! This was our biggest headline show to date and we had the best time ever. The crowd was going off, track after track and the energy was immaculate!”
4. Releasing our debut album Midnight Zoo
We can’t believe this has finally happened! 18 long months of writing and recording was definitely a challenge for the 4 of us however we could not be happier with the final result. We are so proud of each other and to release an album with your 3 best mates is such a beautiful experience.
5. Announcing our debut international tour
“We can’t wait to head around the globe later this year to visit cities we’d never imagined that we’d travel to, let alone play shows in!”
