The build-up to Drapht’s new album continues with the single ‘Hypocrite’ feat. Eli Greeneyes.
‘Hypocrite’ is the fourth taste of the Perth MC’s upcoming fifth album, Shadows and Shinings. The song’s about everyone having a bit of hypocrite in them, says Drapht, especially in the age of the influencer. “I just wanted to balance out the universe a bit.”
The idea for the song came to Drapht after a massive night out with friends in LA. “I used the writing of it to crawl myself out of the depths of the darkest of hangovers,” he said.
The second half of ‘Hypocrite’ came together one week after the big night in LA. Drapht was at the airport, hurrying to catch a flight from LA to New Orleans. “I was so busy trying to get to the gate to catch my flight I didn’t realise I had just cut off a guy in a wheelchair going to the same gate getting on the same flight,” he said.
“I could definitely get better at slowing down, I think we can all be guilty of getting caught up in the race to the next destination and at times don’t quite understand the damage we’re doing in the process.”
The song comes with a comedic music video shot and directed by Drapht’s close friends, Uncool Sam and Complete from Drop Shot Media. “We’ve been shooting a video every two weeks, and time after time they just keep going above and beyond,” said Drapht.
Shadows and Shinings is out this Friday, 10th September.
