Many of us can link a certain album to pivotal moments in our lives. Whether it’s the first record you bought with your own money, the chord you first learnt to play on guitar, the song that soundtracked your first kiss, the album that got you those awkward and painful pubescent years or the one that set off light bulbs in your brain and inspired you to take a big leap of faith into the unknown – music is often the catalyst for change in our lives and can even help shape who we become.
In this Love Letter To A Record series, Music Feeds asks artists to reflect on their relationship with music and share with us stories about the effect music has had on their lives.
Boy Willows – infinite bisous, W/ Love(2017)
My dearest Infinite Bisous,
I never made love with music on until I heard you.
Somehow you managed to encapsulate all the notions of romance in an effortless way. On W/Love you allowed me to carve a space out for myself in the spaciousness and purposeful sparseness of your music.
W/Love, I admire the feeling you leave with me; one of quiet confidence and sexy introspection; Confidence to exist in the wide-open sonic landscape you create, not cluttered with unnecessary production to hide behind.
I respect that confidence and want that for myself. I like to pretend we share the same brain when I listen to your music and imagine I possess that same sonic bravery.
Maybe one day I will.
Love,
Boy Willows
