The 2021 live music resurgence is well and truly underway with flagship Melbourne venue, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl leading the way having today announced a stack of 2021 open-air performances.
Starting from January 2021 the SMMB will be back in action with Live at the Bowl, a COVIDSafe summer festival comprising more than 40 performances by artists, musicians and comedians celebrating the return of live events and providing crucial work for all sectors of the live event industry.
The Live at the Bowl first line up includes artists such as Birds of Tokyo, Carl Cox, Daryl Braithwaite, Hannah Gadsby, Human Natur, Lime Cordiale, Maddy Jane, Missy Higgins, Northeast Party House, Ocean Alley, Sampa The Great, Slowly Slowly and so many more.
“It’s beyond exciting to me that the live music scene is opening up again; I’ve really missed it. Starting 2021 off by playing at one of the most iconic Melbourne venues is going to be pretty special. I can’t wait,” says Missy Higgins.
For this series, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl will see a reduced capacity audience in a physically distanced environment. All events, even free ones, will be ticketed with a maximum of 3,000 visitors permitted at any one time – making up 25% of the venue’s regular capacity.
The venue will also sport “purpose-built and environmentally-mindful private decks” on the main lawn for groups of 4 – 6 people known to each other. Explains a press release, “These decks must be purchased as a whole deck which includes one chair per guest and one bar table. The stalls will be modified to include five tiered levels fitted with tables to seat either pairs or groups of four. The two side balconies will also be available for those who wish to attend an event solo or with a guest.”
Tickets will go on sale from 12pm, Wednesday 16 December via liveatthebowl.com.au. See the Live at the Bowl schedule of events below.
