PREMIERE: Darwin Soul Artist Caiti Baker Teams Up With Director Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore For Stunning ‘Gone’ Clip

Darwin’s Caiti Baker has entered a new era for herself creatively. The genre-defying artist released her debut record, Zinc, two years ago. It came about after a prolonged period of time away from social media where she gave herself the space to reclaim her artistry.

This period saw her form a creatively inimitable relationship with creative powerhouse Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore one that has continued throughout her work, and today, the pair are continuing their dynamic relationship with the clip to accompany Baker’s new track, ‘Gone’, premiering via Music Feeds today.

“Earlier this year I played ‘Gone’ for Claudia in a cafe in Fairfield, Victoria and instantly, her idea began to form,” Baker said.

“Keeping with the sentiment of the lyrics, Claudia’s initial idea developed and I rolled with every punch, placing all my faith in her to do exactly what she wanted.”

“We worked together along with a crew of exceptionally talented people on an incredible property in Eltham in the peak of winter. The women and their experiences exist in my mind; they are me, I am them. We’re both so proud of what we’ve created and can’t wait for everyone to see and hear it.”

Touching on themes of captivity and surrender, every visual aspect of the short film is representative of Baker and the rebirth she explores in the clip.

“Gone is a song that means a lot to me. It’s healing and forgiving. I always knew that it deserved an unashamedly emotional visual narrative and I’m honoured and humbled by what Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore has created. We hope it resonates with people as it does with us,” Baker said.

Sangiorgi Dalimore previously directed the 2018 documentary Her Sound Her Story and the ARIA Award-nominated video for Mojo Juju’s ‘Native Tongue’. Se has also directed music videos for Thelma Plum, Meg Mac, Holy Holy and Amy Shark.
