Sydney’s Nathan Cavaleri has just unleashed a scorching new indie rock number dubbed ’29 Gold Stars’ off his forthcoming debut EP.
The track’s bluesy Stevie Ray Vaughn-esque roadhouse guitar and mercilessly funky bass has us reaching for the bourbon (you can just leave the whole bottle, thanks) while Cavaleri’s vocals sizzle with a kind of self-assured swagger and sass that you don’t see from many Aussie acts. We could have a future rockstar on our hands here, people.
“My head was in the gutter when I wrote this track,” explains Cavaleri. “Fascinated by the relationship between desire and shame. The change in topic was a nice break from the usual emotive pieces I write. As an artist, I need this balance”.
The devastatingly sleazy tune marks the latest cut from the artist’s forthcoming debut EP Demons, which Cavaleri has just announced will reach our eardrums on Friday, 31st May.
And to toast the release, he’ll be hitting the live trail in April, May and June, performing eight metropolitan and regional dates across the nation.
