Melbourne Music Week is almost here and Modular are getting all up amongst it, curating a show at MMW’s The Residence for an evening of the best emerging Australiana talent which includes the Melbourne debut of 100 Million Nights, a collaboration between Canyons and visual artist Daniel Boyd.
After gigs at GoMA (Brisbane) and MoNA (Hobart), 100 Million Nights use video across three giant screens and a live score by Canyons to reinterpret Aboriginal and Australian-European history to explore “the subjective reality of what we are taught, and what we believe”. Boyd recently joined Modular for Modcast #169 (below).
Stephen Pavlovic of Modular Recordings says MMW is known for its innovative programming. “We are thrilled to present The Residence with some of our cutting edge artists,” he says. “The music coming out of Melbourne at the moment is particularly exciting and diverse. We’ve done our best to capture this in our lineup.”
As well 100 Million Nights, Modular’s stint at The Residence will feature performances from Melbourne acid house producer Roland Tings, dub pop pair Standish/Carlyon, digital maestro Andras Fox and some hot DJ action from Shining Bird and Club Mod DJs.
