Death Cab for Cutie at the Enmore – Monday 18th of August

Ah, the nosebleeds. Surely my favourite seated section. The last few rows on the mezzanine always bring me some joy; completely full of those who booked their tickets with eight seconds to spare- an entire section united in belated interest. Death Cab were pretty great, although somewhat bland- picture a great selection of their album tracks played as on the record, and add an occasional fumbled note. Next, add some unnecessary fangirl screaming, and perhaps a few extra bars to a couple of the songs. Highlights included the animated two-step of Ben Gibbard, and the gorgeously unrelenting melancoly of closer ‘Transatlanticism’.
